New, Sneaky Landlocked Housing in West Bridgewater via Brockton Street was created by clifton heights
There will be a hearing tonight in the GAR room at City Hall, 6 pm regarding a new development on West Chestnut Street. Unbelievably, access is proposed to this new "Meadow Wood" project near the intersection with Ash Street, near the Kennedy School.. Three houses will be in Brockton, but the real plan is to punch through to build 33 houses in West Bridgewater with NO WEST BRIDGEWATER access. West Bridgewater will receive the property tax revenues while another greedy developer mows down what little is left with the wetlands in that area. Anyone who travels or lives on this road knows the traffic is already heavy. This is unacceptable. Second meeting will be held with Conservation Commission on Thursday, February 9 at 7 pm in the same location. Police, fire, traffic will all be impacted for those of us in the area. To Dennis Eaniri - as a resident in your area I implore that you do not support this. Please attend this meeting!

We on the conservation commission take the protection of the wetlands seriously. Any project must comply with the Wetlands protection act and we have jurisdiction over the wetlands and a buffer zone in Brockton. We will look at the data presented in a fair manner also using recommendations from a independent environmental agency the commission uses to make sure the applicant is in compliance with the WPA and our recommendations set forth. Anyone is welcome to attend the meeting on 02/09/17 in the GAR room at 7pm. If you want to speak on a subject you will be asked to sign in for the record.

Why would a developer start this project without a reasonable exorctstion it wouldn't be approved?

Prediction: it will be aporoved and Brockton will be screwed again.

I can say we will review the documents and plans and have our independent firm look at any and all impacts to the wetlands and anything under our jurisdiction we will review and make a ruling on and this will include mitigating any issues to the wetlands.

www.noverarmstrong.com/ is the firm we use to advise the commission and to conduct reviews of applications etc.

The Conservation commission can only rule on the WPA and those issues within its jurisdiction

The other boards rule on traffic etc.

What happened at the meeting last night?

There are usually zoning regulations that say you can't have a road longer than a certain length without having 2 methods of egress. It allows, residents and emergency responders a second way to enter a neighborhood if one entrance is blocked. In Bridgewater that length is only 1/4 mile or about 2500 ft. I wonder if that would apply to this development?

I can't see how West Bridgewater emergency responders could respond if they had to drive into Brockton and up West Chestnut St to handle a call. In addition to the long response, It also puts those responders "out of town" for the most part.

Then again , I'm sure Brewster would be happy since they can dispatch from their W Chestnut st location.

Good points made. I hate seeing our wooded areas plowed over.

We're following in China's foot steps. Cram 'em in with no green whatsoever.
Trees, woods, etc. are very important for our survival. The Indians had it right....live off the land. What land?

If we all sang the same note in the choir, We'd never have harmony

The meeting was postponed to April 4 since Meadow Woods LLC wants more time. Dennis Earniri will organize a ward meeting in March to discuss this. Please contact him via e-mail so that he has you on his list. The drawings of this dumb project are available online. I suggest you all view them - listed under Plot 42 West Chestnut Street. Trust me, you will be shocked at the size of this. There is one street proposed, which does not meet zoning requirements for a development. However, there is another street secretly drawn that feeds onto the dirt road end of Ash. It does not punch through right now, but it will. I also hear that some land must be purchased from the City of Brockton to help them meet setback requirements. Why sell it to them? I am not a crusader, but anyone who will listen will hear my distaste for this project.

To Henningson1 - I have a question. This is NOT a Brockton project. Why must we consider it? Does the Conservation Commission review Chestnut Woods? One of the houses that borders West Chestnut mowed down all of the trees on the rear of its property, specifically noted in the bylaws not to happen. Once a project is complete, residents have no accountability for wetlands protection unless they are caught. This is a terrible idea and for once I wish my city would simply say NO to something that is not for the good of area residents.

My guess is this is exactly why they want the street to originate in Brockton, where anything goes. Remember, the first 3 houses will be Brockton residents on a Brockton street. After that, 33 displaced West Bridgewaterians will be living on a faux WB street. By the way, there is no mention of the type of housing here. It could very well be Section 8. That is what was originally proposed for Chestnut Woods, only a short distance away. This is an already congested area for those who live here; many out-of-towners skip the treachery that is Route 106 and wind around to West Chestnut. There area many accidents at the intersection of West Chestnut and Ash and crossing on foot is nearly impossible. The wetlands are in danger and the wildlife already muscled-out with two developments around the corner in West Bridgewater near the flashy new water tower. I say we take a stand and protect what is ours. We do not have to accept every ridiculous and wacky proposal that comes our way.

I can only speak to the part of the project that is in Brockton. As for this the project has been put forth by the developer and since part of the project is in Brockton and has a potential to effect wetlands in Brockton per the WPA we must rule on our portion. We can place order of conditions and have certain requirements as it pertains to the jurisdiction we have in regards to the WPA

As for other projects and compliance issues if a condition has been violated or alleged to have been the best place would be to lodge a formal complaint at city hall. I would start there if someone violated something on the prior issues in chestnut woods. I believe there is also a process to lodge a complaint with the DEP

I cant speak to that project as I was not on the commission at the time.

Thinking the Residents Of Brockton aren't going to fare well in this. CH, thanks for the info. Anything we as residents can do? Anyone we could contact to voice our concerns/displeasure?

Follow right to Ross Messina and an Albanese. Check their campaign contributions. No excuse for either of them not to understand the Brockton City Residential Makeup.

From what I understand, we can start a petition and attend the meetings associated with this. I heard this is in the early stages but I am not sure who is organizing it. I suspect we can weed through this at Earnini's ward meeting in March. There are not many things that citizens agree upon, but I have not yet heard one person who supports this except Messina and Albanese. Henningson thanks for that info; in my case I know what the original order of conditions is for Chestnut Woods as I have a copy. Subsequent residents and others who are not as familiar with the project do not know/care. I will follow up, checking the order to the house that mowed down all the trees. Bottom line is, the damage is done.

Was this conservation meeting cancelled due to the snow that day and if so, what is the rescheduled date?
