- city council would like a raise, please.
city council would like a raise, please.
@ The proposal moved out of the ordinance committee by a 3-2 vote. It also includes a hike for School Committee members an extra $1,000 for the council president."
So that "little" pay increase now gets bigger. Let's now give the President a $6000. raise. And add $7000.00 more for SC. Nice the CC has decided that SC only deserves a $1000. . I didn't know that CC could increase the School Committee's budget. Still yet to hear from Mayor.

Ord was to increase CC from 10k to 15k and 16k for CC President
Also SC would go from 3k to 4.5k
this goes to full CC for vote.
SC salary is controlled by CC

Also forgot to add this part for Dave:
Councilor-at-large Jass Stewart sponsored the measure, which would increase councilors' annual stipends from $10,000 to $15,000 and then index their pay to inflation .

We decided to send it back to the Full city council for discussion.it will one way or another be sent to finance.
Personally I think the job is worth the 15,000 it is more than part time.i have no complaints with our compensation but I understamd where Councilor Stewart is coming from and it may entice more people to run and he'd like to make it comparable with other like cities.
I'd probably like to see it spread over a 5 year period other than the School Comm and Council Presidents compensation if indeed this passes.
I'm fine with keeping it as is.
Also School Comm can get Health Ins and we are taxed.

Im not sure it should be tied into a cost of living raise either if it passes. I'm sure it will be sent to finance where it will be discussed openly.

So it goes to CC who will send to FinCom who will possibly send it back to CC for a vote?
Perhaps the multiple negotiating City Unions will have contracts by then? And if they do it's a sure bet they won't get 50% increase like the CC is requesting.
