Brockton Police shot and killed a man early Thursday morning during an incident outside 50 Thayer St., city officials confirmed.
Bob Buckley, Mayor Bill Carpenter’s chief of staff, confirmed this morning that a man was shot and killed by police. The incident happened at the side of a house at 50 Thayer St., where bullet holes in the building indicate several shots were fired. Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz's office confirmed this morning that State Police are investigating.
In a press release, the DA's office said police responded to the scene after a woman entered the Brockton police station about 12:30 a.m. and said Buckley was at the Thayer Street address and threatening to burn the home down. The woman, later said to be the victim's wife, Barbara Buckley, 42, also told police other people were in the home, and that Buckley had been drinking, the release said.
Brockton Police were sent to the address and discovered Buckley outside the home holding a police scanner connected to an ear piece, and what appeared to be a rifle, according to the DA's release.

Violence erupted at 4:30 a.m. Sunday during an illegal after-hours party where admission was being charged for entry at 66 Green St. Dozens of people attended the party, Cruz said.
Witnesses told police that "a large-scale brawl broke out and spilled outside onto the street," Cruz said.

City officials are going to be taking a "hard look" at the use of 66 Green St. in Brockton where a party turned into a deadly brawl Sunday night.
Officials said the after-hours party on Sunday was illegal because people were being charged admission to enter and that no permits had been taken out. We're taking a hard look at that now," Brockton Mayor Bill Carpenter said. "The legal use of the building and the current use are both under active investigation."
The building, which looks like a multi-family house, is actually a four-unit office building attached to a larger office building at 71 Legion Parkway. The Green Street building has never been listed as a residential property, said Jill Picanzi, head administrative clerk for the Brockton Assessor’s office.
A neighbor described the building being used as a "club" with bouncers where people were charged $15 per person to enter. The parties were often held into the early morning hours on weekends and fights often broke out.
