Teddy Roosevelt was the 26th President of the United States and the youngest to ever occupy the Oval Office. He was Vice President to President William McKinley when in 1901 McKinley was assassinated the Roosevelt took over at age 42. (At age 43 President John F. Kennedy was the youngest to ever be elected President.)
The actual text from Teddy Roosevelt’s letter is below. There are a few minor differences from the original such as changing “man” to “person” but the content is virtually identical.
We should insist that if the immigrant who comes here does in good faith become an American and assimilates himself to us he shall be treated on an exact equality with every one else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed or birth-place or origin.
But this is predicated upon the man’s becoming in very fact an American and nothing but an American. If he tries to keep segregated with men of his own origin and separated from the rest of America, then he isn’t doing his part as an American. There can be no divided allegiance here. . . We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language, for we intend to see that the crucible turns our people out as Americans, of American nationality, and not as dwellers in a polyglot boarding-house; and we have room for but one soul loyalty, and that is loyalty to the American people.
Its no wonder that America is divided, what is an American. We don't exist anylonger, its about political parties and them gaining votes. White and African Americans are a joke now a days. If you break the law, you should be held accountable so we have politicians in favor of people breaking the laws. Brockton should have an ICE office located here. According to The DA Cruz, when he runs he talks about building a huge Public Safety Building that would house the State police, FBI,ICE,ATF,DEA and Brockton Police. More than any other time in history of America we cater to and hold illegal immigrants higher than we do Americans.
Many come here and lie, they use false identities and they come here specifically to better themselves but that means welfare to many of them. We need to end it, We give honor and recognize every ethnicity and a country where a person comes from but if I say I am an American what the hell does that mean anymore.
Shayna and Michele and Moises can support this Trust act but they are going backwards, they are not going forward, there ideology is rudimentary and fundamentally flawed idea's. Its sad when stupid people vote. So break the law and get away with it and if your here illegally you broke the law and should have consequences but when your crooked in politics the idea of consequences has no meaning.
Scott I am with you on getting some of these people out of office. I fought hard to get Balzotti out and I was happy with that and what ever it takes I am ready for the fight again. I have some good material from the days I use to film and tape everything in the early 2000s and when I put it out there it will turn some heads.

We are calling everyone out who votes for the Trust Act, even that little snot Lally. LOL! Dennis Einiri (sp) has said he does not support the TA. He even has a button that says NO to the TA. He's the only one who has come out and given a straight answer.

BF, If Trump gets elected (which I doubt very much that he will), he won't do shit, because the Feds already hold back funding to States that adopt the Trust Act. A big part of that is funding for law enforcement.

"Brockton city councilors are debating tonight whether to adopt a “Trust Act” promising local cops will not report illegal immigrants to the feds if they haven’t committed a criminal offense — but they insist that’s different from being a controversial “sanctuary city.”
“We want to help people that are here, but we don’t want to hurt the city,” said Councilor Thomas Monahan, who heads the committee that will debate the ordinance tonight and possibly vote a recommendation to the full council. “There’s a lot of stuff up in the air right now. Like if Trump gets in, we don’t want to put ourselves in a bad situation getting funds into the city.” The acts are pitched as helping build trust between police and local immigrants who won’t fear deportation for reporting a crime or cooperating in an investigation. Monahan said there’s trepidation after the Department of Justice recently warned that cities could jeopardize their federal criminal justice grants if they pass laws preventing the sharing of information about an immigrant’s status with Immigration and Customs Enforcement."
Brockton’s proposed act — similar to laws passed in Lawrence, Somerville, and Boston after pushes by immigrant rights groups — would prevent city cops from honoring an ICE request to detain an immigrant unless ICE has a criminal warrant for the individual, or if the immigrant has been convicted of a violent crime or felony in the past decade, or is a registered sex offender, or is on a terrorist watch list. The Brockton act is now in draft form and could be amended or replaced entirely. Councilors have already voted to strip language that is present in other cities’ acts barring ICE officials from using local police facilities.
Councilor Moises Rodrigues, who is sponsoring the act, said "it offers protections different than so-called sanctuary cities because it doesn’t shield immigrants who are charged with crimes, only ones who commit civil infractions."

"We are Brockton, we are united, we have the power" -- outside City Council chambers after Ordinance Committee decided to postpone Trust Act vote to late October/early November

FYI update from Enterprise. A lot of heckling. Those for, were calling those against racists among other things. Kudos to Eanneri for being against from the beginning. I just don't understand how any CC could support an Ordinance that could impact the City from being cut off from Federal Funds.

"Some of the city's elected officials said that they were uneasy about the implications of the proposed ordinance on the community becoming viewed as a "sanctuary" for undocumented immigrants, and how that could negatively affect an already cash-strapped local school system, in addition to Brockton's relationship with the federal government and what the police department receives in law enforcement funding. "The way I look at it, the way it's written ... no matter how you end up with it, you're still going to be tagged with that label, 'sanctuary city,' and that's what bothers me," said Ward 3 City Councilor Dennis Eaniri. Ward 2 City Councilor Thomas Monahan, who leads the ordinance committee, said that the matter will be revisited in October or November after further review."
"There are two sides to this and we are going to make the best decision for all of us," said Ward 7 City Councilor Shirley Asack.

Say NO to further erosion of our city!
My parents were immigrants in the 60's. They came here legally, sponsored and made to learn English. Imagine that.

Publically supporting are Rodrigues and Beauregard. I know Dubois is for as well but she can't vote on a City Ordinance. Thankfully.

Where's the Police Chief on this?

More from the meeting: "The Brockton City Council Chambers was filled with people with a deeply ideological and political divide on the Local Trust proposal, with the left side of the room filled with immigrant families and their supporters, while seated on the right were local residents who believe undocumented immigrants shouldn’t be allowed to live in the city. A few on the left side openly called their detractors white supremacists, while some of the right side referred to undocumented immigrants as law-breakers trying to mooch off the system.
“We see a bunch of racist white men coming and opposing it,” said Filipe Teixeira, the pastor of Saint Martin De Porres Church in Brockton, who is originally from Angola. “Your great-grandparents didn’t come here the legal way. They came here on the boat, in the name of freedom and religion. We come here for the same reasons. ... It’s also because of the U.S. imperialism, what they did in our countries, that we are coming here.”

I have not seen any other CC on the record against? Monahan expressed concerns but didn't IMO state for/against. If he has I am sure he will correct.

That wasn't Farwells position when I spoke with him over a month ago. Glad he came to his senses.

Maybe HIS Ancestors came here on a boat illegally but mine didn't. Screw him.

Nice words from a pastor who needs to polish up on his act and remain in the church and out of politics. He always seems to be the one to stir up problems and is the first to always claim racism.
Take away his non profit status because he's abusing it.
