CAL CityWide Meeting & CC Meetings
Sullivan made some statement regarding charter school and that it will have detrimental effect on public school Ch. 70 funding. He said to the tune of 6 million up front. I believe that's wrong. The impact from the Charter won't be impacted until next year but the table is being set IMHO to lay the deficit budget to the Charter.
Asked about water rate increase, they said nothing has come in front of them.
They talked about how it's going to be a tough budget.
Talked about the Sports Complex and how the RE Committee unanimously approved to Send to CC.
20 minute love fest between the Super and the Councilors. They fought the good fight but the Charter won . They all love working together blah blah blah. I'm against the Charter but by no means are the Schools in such a deficit due to the forthcoming Charter.
Lot of discussion on opioids etc.
Massasoit/BSU collaborative done. No money , thanks Charlie.
The major takeaway is really how intelligent Farwell is . He said he was questioning why the setting of the tax rate had to wait until Dec then increases are compressed into last 2 billing quarters. I always wondered that.
Officer Healey talking about crime tips.
It's worth watching when rebroadcast in Cable.

" A Brockton ordinance proposal would establish a set of “minimum qualifications” for some appointees to two city boards, according to Councilor-at-large Winthrop Farwell, Jr.
Farwell, who submitted the ordinance proposal, said that it’s important for future appointees to the Brockton Conservation Commission and the Brockton Planning Board to include citizens with a minimum level of expertise. The two boards are appointed by the mayor, and approved by the Brockton City Council. "

"Spurred by the rapid growth of paid youth sports programs across the country, New England Sports Village’s developers plan to build a 47,000-square-foot aquatics center; a 100,000-square-foot ice arena; a 165,000-square-foot indoor field house; a hotel with up to 150 rooms, along with retail and restaurant space.
"If all goes well, the New England Sports Village would become, after its expected completion in September 2017, the largest privately developed and operated youth sports complex in the state, according to its backers. It would also feature the widest variety of facilities. "Ground has been broken in Attleboro for the New England Sports Village. Ultimately, developers hope to fully lease out facilities, at a profit, to thousands of customers, usually the parents of young athletes who are playing in the increasing number of “speciality” youth sports leagues around the country, from hockey to soccer to swimming. The facilities will also play host to paying high school, college, and adult sports programs in need of modern, year-round facilities."

Also just to add to the "saturated" discussion of new sports complexes Braintree is in the process of building one with the hope of opening 10/16. "The complex is to be built on the Richard Carson soccer field near the intersection of Granite and Town streets. It would include two regulation hockey rinks, a basketball court and batting cages in addition to the pool.". Smaller in scale than Attleboro but still competition.
Is the one in Brockton a reality? Does it have investors, plans etc? Or is it a CC/Mayor deeding land in the hope of a plan? Build it, hope they will come?

For all those interested the majority of meeting is about code enforcement .

The break down can be described in one word: PANDERING. When ppl can finally gulp that its the Cape Verdeans and their gangs shooting up the city. Its the ones rounded up in crime sweeps along with a few white individuals. Pull your head out of the sand and admit...enough is enough. Btw, Mayor Carpenter stop your visits to Cape Verde as CC Rodrigues said, Carpenter has been to CV more than he has.
As you can see, I'm pretty angry. Kudos again to the CC re-opening this issue. Lets get this done.
I don't care who buys a house in my neighborhood, respect your property, cut your grass and respect your neighborhood!!!

This whole code enforcement issue has been a political hot potato since Carpenter took office. Hard not to wonder why. Except if you notice whenever this issue and a few other hot items appear on the agenda the Mayor and Chief of Police never are available.

Very enlightening video, I urge all to take a look at least the beginning for the CE issue.
