I don't know about anyone else, but the new trash barrels are a hilarious mishap or the designer is off their rocker.
I couldn't even cram a 13 gal. kitchen bag in mine. The bottom is so tiny all it is is unusable wasted space. And there I
was worried about having just purchased a huge box of 30 gal. bags from BJ's. These new barrels are supposed to be
35 gal.and standing next to my already owned 30 gal. barrel proves it is smaller. Much smaller.

Trying to kick this site back in gear.
I don't know about anyone else, but I have yet to see these new and special trucks that pick up barrels. The men are still heaving them into the truck by hand. ????
All this hoopla about new and modern plans, rules, etc. Sad to say, this city doesn't seem to be able to get the simplest of things done right and they had tons of time to do it. We have pathetic leadership. I have never seen streets in such bad shape no matter where I drive. Abandoned properties, closed stores. I could go on. I want to know where our tax dollars are going besides drug rehab centers.

I just spoke with Pat at the recycling department.

The Brockton recycling site still says that recycling is unlimited. But the new guidelines say that all the recycling has to go in the bins. I have a bin that is the same configuration, but it itsn't a Brockton bin so I can't use it.

You can buy another recycling bin though, they will even deliver it. It's $55 bucks. I think I might do it, because I've been putting recycling in Brockton bags when I run out of room, and burning boxes in my backyard stove. My house even has an incinerator, but I'm afraid to use that...

So... Additional information for ya...

You mean we can still use our "old" green bins? I saw somewhere that they were picking them. I kept mine. I was one of the original recycler's.... I paid for my bins years ago!

no, they will take the green plastic bins.

You have to buy another 60 gallon barrel.

They have to be the same barrel.

It's $55 and they will drop it off and pick up a payment.

They are using the "fork" trucks in our neighborhood. The driver exits the truck, however, for big items, when people do not line up the barrels properly, or for those green bags. Be sure to put your one big item in front of the barrels, though, or it may stay there. Refuse department says you can call them if that happens (they will send another truck).

I attended a ward meeting a few weeks ago and the representative from our refuse department was there. He talked about green bags, etc. but never mentioned a price increase. I read in the Enterprise they are now 4 to a package, instead of 5. We don't use them. We have an old trash compactor if we need it. Best investment ever if you have bulky items that you want to smash. It is the shape of the mini barrels that are the problem. If they did not have indents they would be more effective.

I wonder how diligent people are in looking for recycling symbols now? The huge receptacle seems to encourage anything that is paper, plastic, or glass to go in.
