I got banned a few days ago. I'm surprised it took this long. It seems that right after the outing of Kane is when the banning began. You used to be able to post on there as an proponent of the PP and they would just make a silly rhyme, show a silly picture or sing a silly song. It was like debating with a 5 year old.

Judge pauses Brockton power plant lawsuit

A federal judge agreed on Tuesday to put on hold the lawsuit – filed by the developers of a power plant against the city and individual officials – while the parties sort out a settlement agreement.
Nicastro’s attorney, Kurt Fliegauf, pleaded unsuccessfully with the judge during a status conference in U.S. District Court to not stay the lawsuit indefinitely, saying that a dispute between the City Council and Mayor Bill Carpenter over the power plant is unlikely to see quick resolution.
On Tuesday, John Davis, an outside attorney for the council, urged Judge Leo Sorokin not to put the lawsuit on hold because the council believes the settlement deal is not legitimate. Therefore, the reason for staying the suit – to allow the settlement conditions to be finalized – does not make sense.

The legality of that agreement – reached without support of the City Council – has been questioned by councilors and plant critics, who say Carpenter overstepped his authority by unilaterally selling city wastewater that is crucial to the plant’s operation.
Council President Dennis Eaniri said this week that he expects the council to take action through the existing lawsuit, rather than file a separate injunction against the developer moving forward.
Eaniri said the developers have "every right" to go through the city’s permitting process, but that the council still plans to put up a fight over the water, which is necessary to cool the plant’s electricity generating system. "You can’t stop anybody from pursuing their business," Eaniri said. "The issue will lie with the water. Nothing’s a done deal."
ED BYERS QUOTE
Ed Byers, CEO of Cindy’s Kitchen and an organizer with the anti-power plant group Stop the Power, called on the council to be more proactive. "The people want to see action and they’re frustrated," he said. Byers added that he considers the latest move by the developers "an empty action," but thinks the mayor has been "out-maneuvering the council" when it comes to showing that he is in control of the situation. "

I'd like to say to Byers, there are residents who are frustrated from this not being completed. 80 million dollars over 20 years. 4 million dollars a year. That puts more cops on the street, prevents FF from being laid off, calls back the RIF teachers, prevents a firehouse from being closed. Yes, we're frustrated that someone who doesn't live in the City is giving veiled threats to the CC. City Council, do the right thing. SETTLE THIS. We need the money.

Mayor said on the record he would immediately give:
$1 million to Public Service
$ 1 million to Schools
$. 800k to Parks and Rec.
To the CC WE NEED THE REVENUE
and can't afford the litigation.

As a constituent in your ward, I ask you to stop with your lawsuits. Your refusing to allow the sale of wastewater to the plant is petty, unethical, and based on all reports illegal as it can be seen as a form of collusion on the part of the city council and former mayor (the reason you are being sued, or were prior to the settlement).
Put your own egos aside, stop being bullied and influenced by a wealthy non-resident. Listen to your actual constituents who want this over, don't want our tax money being spent on a fight we don't support, and would prefer new revenues coming into the city.
Remeber who votes for you, not who funds your campaigns.
Thank you.

173 teachers were laid off, talk of 4 FF being laid off, closing of a firehouse, we need a million dollar fire truck. No one wants to raise taxes yet the CC continues to spend our tax money litigating this.
So again , who's the Devil?

When they're up against a wall, they would sell their soul to the devil just to make themselves look good,
At this point, where they're so incompetent, we need ANY form of business that's willing to plunk their butts here.

In February, Mayor Bill Carpenter signed an agreement with the developers of a proposed power plant, deciding to allow the plant to move toward construction
The meeting Tuesday at City Hall represented the first step in a lengthy local permitting process. It also marks the first public action by the developers since a federal judge put on hold a $68 million lawsuit over the power plant to allow the city to finalize the mayor's deal.
The legality of that agreement – reached without support of the City Council – has been questioned by councilors and plant critics, who say Carpenter overstepped his authority by unilaterally selling city wastewater that is crucial to the plant’s operation.
